A Living Keynote: Artificial Life for Society, where are we now? Where next?

Keynote talks are an opportunity to give a big picture view or to discuss cross-cutting themes that matter to a community and of course they are usually delivered by invited
speakers. At ALIFE this year we also have a living keynote which will be constructed by all of us together over the course of the week and delivered on Friday. The theme is “Artificial Life for Society, where now? Where next?” and we hope to use this exercise to get a picture of the whole community’s thinking and ideas on these issues now. The keynote is currently a wall of paper on the first floor outside the lecture theatre to which we invite everyone to contribute their thoughts. Post its, pens etc are provided. We have added some questions to start off with, but please feel free to add your own questions to which you would like to hear the community’s response. In addition, we have a trello board to open the discussion up for remote participants.

Questions so far:

As well as feedback on Friday, we hope to collect enough to write up some results for the ALIFE Journal. Please let us know if you like to be involved. Members of the ALIFE Societal Impact team will also be recording short interviews throughout the conference to gather opinions on the ALIFE for Society theme. Please come and let us know your thoughts!
